FEEL BLESSED AT VAISHNO DEVI
Vaishno Devi temple is a sacred temple complex dedicated to Maa Vaishno in the State of Jammu & Kashmir near the city of Katra. The temple is one of the prominent Shakti Peethas of Hindus. In the Hindu mythology the temple got its significance in the part where Lord Vishnu cuts the dead body of Goddess Sati, Lord Shiva’s former wife who self had immolated herself after her husband was insulted by her father Daksh.
The body parts fell on different places of the earth which have been considered shrines in the Hindu religious beliefs. This is the place where the hands of the goddess fell. The shrine of Maa Vaishno Devi is also reputed being one of the prime tourist places in India. All the tour operators’ even governments have promoted Vaishno Devi as one of the tourist places in India.
The temple complex can be visited all year round but make sure to carry enough winter clothing for your convenience as temperatures go beyond zero degrees. The place where the Mother is worshipped is the prime attraction over there covered in red clothing and gold ornaments. The cave leading to this worship area is quite an adventure in itself where many times you have to squeeze yourself to make your way up.
How to Reach
Vaishno Devi being one of the tourist places in India has no direct rail connectivity to Katra, the place from where its approached. At the moment the best way is to get down at Jammu Tawi railway station and board a taxi for Katra.
